One thing I even have decided to try to to which may help me think more critically about films is to stay an inventory of each movie I even have seen this year, and are available up with a top 10 list of some sort. However, i’m not really sure what criteria I should take under consideration to form this list.

For example, i actually enjoyed big films like Avengers: Endgame and Toy Story 4 for a spread of reasons that might take too long to elucidate . However, I just saw Midsommar, and think it’s an absolutely jaw-dropping piece of cinema that’s objectively probably the simplest movie I even have seen thus far this year. Something like this is often where i’m stuck – I mainly enjoy the 2 prior films thanks to the private history I even have with the franchises that are an outsized a part of my life, yet Midsommar (and other independent films) have tons to supply that I feel are often easily overlooked thanks to nostalgia glasses.
